SAIC: Southern Alberta Inclusion Coalition

Mission: To provide a platform for municipal governments, community organizations, and other interested persons to share information, skills, and experiences to collaboratively create communities where everyone experiences a sense of belonging, free from social barriers, and are active participants in the social, cultural and economic life of the community.

Who are we?

Individuals from community and municipal organizations actively working on inclusion objectives within Southern Alberta: representing all regions from Red Deer to the south.

The Southern Alberta Inclusion Coalition (SAIC) will function to convene inclusion practitioners within Southern Alberta to develop a community of practice for shared resources, strategic alignment, a unified voice and learning opportunities.

Our background:

In 2017, the City of Chestermere launched the initial Rural South Central Alberta Regional Inclusion Coalition. Since then, we have quickly gained interest from communities and organizations across Southern Alberta. As a result, the Coalition changed its name to the Southern Alberta Inclusion Coalition. Over the next three years, we would like to see our membership grow until at least 15 Southern Alberta communities are involved in the work we do.

What is an inclusive community?

An inclusive community is one where people of every age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, physical and mental ability, income, education, and religion are safe, valued, and included. All Albertans benefit when our communities are inclusive.
